Things to do

Feeling a bit bored and blah. My weeks are repetitive and lacking excitement. Am thinking of taking on a project each month, but i don't want to do the usual learn a new language thing so am a bit stumped for ideas. Feel free to chime in.

I asked D for ideas and explained it to be similar to 30 things to do before 30. He came.up with two solutions - 1. Play trivia at our local. 2. Start a family. Fail.

Project February i have decided will be beautifying our backyard. Will get a wiggle on this weekend pruning, tidying, cleaning and rearranging.

Storms, floods and the black out of all black outs

As I'm sure you have heard, Brisbane and a lot of Qld suffered some pretty awful destruction thanks to ex cyclone Oswald. All my family and friends are safe and their houses are too luckily. Not so lucky was us, we were without power from Sunday night right through to Wednesday. It was a long few days! It wasn't the lack of power that bothered me so much, but it was so hot and it was impossible to sleep in the humidity, I only had a few hours sleep over the three days and was one cranky, exhausted and emotional mess haha. Thankfully it is back now. Worst long weekend ever!

The Week That Was

Happy Australia Day! It's been raining cats and dogs so no outdoor activities. Spent most of the day lazing on the couch. Made zucchini fritters for lunch and did my meal plan and shopping list for the week.

Some of our wedding invitations have been received which is nice, have gotten some lovely feedback on them too.

I joined Bupa hospital and extras cover and received a $100 New Balance voucher to spend on their online store. I redeemed it and went to spend it but it only takes $40 off the total balance. So annoying and inconvenient I'll call New Balance on Monday to see if they can fix it otherwise I foresee lots of hassle and running around to get it to work :( sigh.

My hair stylist for the wedding cancelled on me earlier this week so four months out I am now running around trying to find a new one. Will chat to my regular hair dresser tomorrow to see if he can do what I want.

Also discovered an adorable little animal called a Quokka who has the most adorable smile. Google it! You won't regret it.

Stinking hot in Brisbane! Pretty over summer, just between you and I.

This morning D and I met with our priest who will be doing our wedding. He is fantastic and very flexible, am so happy to have him be s part of it all. He is very efficient and has already emailed me the ceremony program with the readings, etc!

Afterwards we went to DFO for D to have a look at wedding suits. There is the most amazing suit at Politix which looks so good on him. It's avail on The Iconic as well and there is a discount code, hoorah!

I know I was going to get one of the Marc Jacobs bags for my birthday but popped into Mimco and decided to get the mini turnlock zip top in nude. I love it! The perfect size for me as the original turnlock would have been too overwhelming for my frame.

Also picked up two cute bikini tops from Cotton On Body for $5 each, score!

Bad day equals comfort food

It has been a long week. I have been sent to another store to work in as they are supposedly short staffed. However they are a very quiet store and I still serve more customers when at my own over staffed store compared to this understaffed one. So the days have been going very slow and as a result this week has dragged.

The shitness of the week peaked today and came home in an awful mood. We live in a complex and when I turned the corner to get to our house there was a baby, unattended, sitting in the middle of the road just around the corner in a blind spot. WHAT THE EFF! Luckily I always drive super slow because there are kids that live in the complex and I know they play in the street sometimes. I was not however expecting a lone baby to be sitting on the road though. Massive parenting fail.

So I got home and declared we were getting takeaway. BAD takeaway. So we got fish and chips, all deep fried with no salad. I feel marginally better now hahaha.

Ben's Vietnamese and Chinese Restaurant

Attended a colleague and good friend's farewell dinner and karaoke on Saturday night. My family and I used to go to Ben's fairly often but a few years ago found the quality of the food had deteriorated a fair bit.

We had the Chinese banquet which was spring rolls, prawn toast and prawn crackers, lemon chicken, sizzling mongolian lamb, sizzling seafood and sweet and sour pork ribs finished with deep fried ice cream. This was all served with fried rice.

Honestly, it was all pretty awful. I know the restaurant mainly caters to non Asians but it was still bad even by those standards. The lemon chicken was by far the worst IMO. Thick batter wrapped around dry chicken drizzled with a fluro yellow "lemon" sauce ick.

Our group stuck around for the karaoke but even that was disappointing because they kept playing the wrong songs.

Safe to say I won't be back!

TGIF!

Ok so it's not Friday yet but it has been a long week for me. Finally feel like I've recovered from my flu, have been going home absolutely wrecked this whole week I was quite sure I wouldn't make it through.

What's super annoying is I keep waking up at 5am, for no reason. My alarm is set for 7! That's two whole hours of sleep I could be enjoying but no am tossing and turning and making myself cranky.

We had to pick up D's glasses tonight so stopped by Berry Me, a self serve froyo place for an $8 frozen yogurt :/ it was delicious though! I got original and green tea bad and topped it with passion fruit, strawberry and kiwi fruit. I was going to take a photo and load it on Instagram (it's the unspoken rule of froyo) but mine looked a bit ugly and it melted pretty quick in all the heat anyway.

Anyway wedding invitations are ready to go. I ordered them from etsy as pictured below but in pink and green, super cute if I do say so myself.

Also thinking about purchasing that cuff, it's so pretty!
